Anybody have anything they'd like to work on in the coming year? Personally, I'd like to do a better job of getting involved in this hobby of mine at a personal level. I know precious few car enthusiasts in person, so usually I've been limited to just doing a lot of reading online, driving by myself, and annoying everybody around me with random facts. Getting on Oppo has been enjoyable thus far, but I'd love to take it further. If all goes according to plan this means more car shows, hopefully some meetups, and maaaaybe something like HPDE/Autocross/rally school.
Happy New Year!

Lose some more weight I'm 176lbs and 5ft 8ins tall, apparently healthy weight is 122-165lbs in terms of BMI. I was 196lbs in march.

I'd like to contribute more to Oppo and write more stuff. My automotive goals are to detail and replace the windshield and tires on the MR2 and enjoy it as much as I can.

Return Miata to stock and sell it in Spring (unless I just happen to run into someone who wants a 90% sorted supercharged NA by accident).

I'm going to cut out swearing. It's a crutch. Example: the word
douchebag
will be replaced with
juicebox.
Inspiration: some leathery old geezer in a an H3 told me I was a "fucking asshole" while leaning out of his window and all I could do (which in part was due to the fact that I was already departed from my car's cabin and within 5 feet of him—which in a non-verbal way was asking him exactly what sort of action he might want to take vis-a-vis his opinion of me) was to literally laugh openly at what a crude old tool he was and think about how when he was sputtering and moaning and crying while incontinent on his death bed in the next few months or years, I would likely be at a school function, graduation, family party or vacation blissfully not caring any less that he would soon be worms and dust. Death is its own revenge, and it's all the more inevitable and apparent for crotchety old fools, so do take care not to be one of these guys.
Live righteously.

By the end of the year = new whip.

Having your own helmet is good, but there are loaner helmets available at RMS events if you want to save some cash.

Keep at it! In January of 2013 I was 206lbs and I resolved to get in shape. I set 156lbs as my goal, as that's right in the middle of my ideal BMI. A year later on January 1, 2014, I was at 167lbs. Today, on December 31st, 2014, my scale read 155.5lbs.
I feel better, I look better, and my lightweight and underpowered cars have 50 fewer pounds of sprung weight!

11 lbs to go for me! I also need to get fit, I have a desk job now and my weight loss is down to eating right, but I'm still not fit that's the goal to go with the weight loss.
Well done on your weight loss, how did you achieve it?

I say this with the utmost respect at you wanting to get into autocross... but no one lets trucks/SUVs participate due to the rollover risk. Sonics and Fiat 500s had trouble being approved, if that gives you an idea.

I stopped shoving food into my face all day. I also have a desk job and I hate exercise for the sake of exercise. I finally realized that I just didn't need to eat nearly as much food as I had been eating. I cut back to a hearty lunch and a very small dinner (a sandwich) if I'm hungry in the evening. My daily energy intake is roughly equal to that of my daily energy output. It's incredible how efficient our bodies are at extracting, storing, and using energy from the stuff we put into our mouth.

Just kidding.

I want my son's truck finished by the time he graduates in the spring. I guess that means I need to make a list of what we need to do and make a schedule plus budget. :)

My old SCCA region let a few S10s run with us at autocross over the years. They were much lower than Denver's Ranger, though.
On the Fiat 500 note, I believe they are actually barred from SCCA autocross. The Abarth 500 however, has different suspension setup and is allowed.

Hopefully buy a new (to me) car that's sporty enough for me to start autocrossing. If I have my way, I'll be driving an E30 or E34. Also start attending Cars and Coffee more, and some other automotive-related events.

I was thinking of buying an Xbox One, a steering wheel and Forza, but I think it's cheaper to drive on tracks in real life. So this year, I won't chicken out and I'll do some track related event(s) this summer.
On a related note, any recommendations for events in New England? (I'm a few miles north of Boston.)

Get a hole cut in the roof of the Kia, around tax time. Get out from under my wife's Passat (see my year in review) and get myself an interesting daily driver while she drives little red.

I'm slightly different, but similar in principle. I have a small breakfast and small lunch and a good sized dinner. The biggest impact was when I cut out snacks entirely, and I saved circa 120 calories a day by cutting out sugar from my tea (no coffee, proper brit)
